Main character is a young, Jewish lesbian who struggles with bulimia, her relationship with her narcissistic mother, and her sense of self. All while living her life, falling in love (lust? Longing?). A pretty honest, relatable story of someone figuring shit out slowly, but surely and healing without even realising they are. Life is messy, relationships are messy — this books doesn’t sugarcoat that.  The main characters perspective at times is annoying, but i think it’s meant to be. There’s growth, disappointment, and understanding to be found.  (Also appreciated that Zionism comes up and is both “allowed” and “challenged” at times. Felt like a realistic portrayal of how that might go when you find out your crush’s family who you see on the outside as being really close knit, happy, privileged and connected are also Zionist and anti-Palestinian and closed minded about that.)

I can definitely see how this book could fill in gaps for folks who feel they hit a wall in psychotherapy, talk therapy frameworks for healing attachment wounds. Brings the reader back to basics, and helps to find more balance between our “prey” and “predator” reactions to situations.  
I found it really good for giving examples and exercises for expanding one’ window of tolerance, and found the language of blue sensations, blue visuals and red sensations and red visuals to be helpful in the process of feeling emotions in the body and anchoring in more pleasant sensations, without seeming like you want “good vibes only”. 
Understanding that there is no red without blue and vice versa, and just anchoring in the blues we have more capacity to deal with, and heal the red.
