tragic, beautiful but felt like I had to wade through some abstract non-fiction anecdotes to make sense of the personal narrative

This was a cute read about one vampire-lumberjack kid's goal to make both of his parents proud while staying true to himself. The puns are a-plenty which always increases a book's enjoyability (if you like bad puns like myself).

I'll be honest... I had a hard time keeping all the family names separate as this book shows the dual impact of one man's terrible decision. The chapters establish the individual and their POV but not which family they come from which left me half reading / half chronicling the family tree. It was a beautifully translated book and a tragic plot but not entirely memorable... unless your forte is fictional Ancestry.

Definitely a good (and decently short) creepy read for the Halloween / spooky season... lots of character-based plot development which is hard to delineate at times

side note: did make me want a funnel cake
