I would’ve given a lower rating had it not been for Magdalena. I wish she had been the narrator instead of Constanta. This book is genuinely infuriating.

This book disproved my long-held belief that non-fiction is fundamentally intimidating and inaccessible.

I’m convinced that Virginia Woolf was actually a time traveler. How else could she have described the different periods of Orlando’s life in such vivid detail?

This book is one of the best representations of what it would actually be like to live for centuries while the world carries on changing around you. It’s no wonder that Orlando describes themselves as “nature’s bride.” Nature itself is the only loyal, consistent presence across all of their lives. Centuries pass but the oak tree still stands.

Do you take sugar? You don’t? Perhaps it’s for the best. Too much of it can be terrible for your health.
