It's been some time since finishing this and I still don't exactly know how I feel about it. It's not bad!! I just got confused. But a good kind of confused. The kind that makes you want to know more and find out what exactly is happening. So ok, this detective right, he has no memory of his past or who he is and is good friends with a voodoo queen who uses mixtapes to talk to spirits. Like actual tapes. This comic is very #80sAesthetic. The blurb uses the phrase "neo-noir" to describe it and I think that is a fairly accurate description.

I read a spoiler and with 20% or so left in the book I decided to not finish it because that spoiler just soured me about the ending. Also, the MASSIVE Brooklyn 99 references were annoying me so much. Not one, not two, but FOUR WHOLE CHARACTERS NAMED AFTER THE MAIN B99 CHARACTERS. Really took me out of it. However I did enjoy it overall, even if it was trope heavy and kinda predictable.

SOOOOOO SPICY!!! But really really good and worth a read as a Jewish person IMO!! Left me with a lot to think about in relation to my own lived experiences, and those of my family and friends.

Lovely sequel to a lovely novella. The tension between Dex and their family was a bit weird but that's just a me thing.

Really enjoyed this! Loved learning about all these fascinating medieval women and how complex and diverse their lives were. Challenges your preconceived notions on the agency that medieval women had, and how medieval people lived at large - humans is the same!
