a creative and original story but a bit repetitive with a slow start but quite easy french to read and a few unexpected plot twists.

despite containing much obsolete and difficult vocabulary which made it a tough read, it was still a touching and surprisingly progressive take on adolescence. there are a few strange moments and a confusing ending but german literature wouldn't be the same without this

completely defied my expectations. actually rather moving story and still has a link to modern day despite its 1890's backdrop. interesting possible feminist lens reveals so much more.
