I thought it was going to be “workshop in a book” self-help style, and it kind of was. But it was also a lot of “for teachers by a teacher,” how to teach such a class. It made me want to take a similar writing class to the one she described, very different from my college creative writing classes.

There was a lot of missing context. I wish the editor had added more detail of how he knew certain people. Since most of his 1990s movies are difficult to find now, I skipped to the movies I’ve actually seen. I wanted to read a biography of Alan Rickman instead.

As an Outlander fan, I liked learning more about Sam as a person. I knew about his charity work but not his career in the theater or his passion for nature.

Helpful advice and info, but the outdated stuff like “San Diego’s Comic Con is only for comic books” was hilarious.

Very repetitive. I thought it would have one “lesson” per episode but it didn’t.

I read an excerpt and then went to go buy it.
Exactly what I needed, a way to be gentle with myself instead of worrying about not cleaning “correctly.”
