If your girlfriend keeps breaking up with you… what are you going to do? Deal with it.

Man, I loved this book, we don’t have a lot of nuanced takes on queer relationships where a queer person can be abusive and manipulative. The book offers a fine solution to the problem which was a borderline a codependency. I will not tell you what it is, that’s your thing to find out by reading the book yourself.

Also the art is stunning. Like… wow.

„Somewhere in each of their pasts, someone or something stole from them — from their core of their very being.“

„But why do they sit around idly? Why aren’t they searching for whatever it is they seek?“

Okay, so, let start with something really simple. Doctor Occult is pretty hilarious with his deadpan attitude and kind stoic personality. Which compliments Rose as a cheeky but sensitive and empathetic woman.

I find that pretty intwresting because it also lays out how to comic approaches the topic of transsexuality. Even though it often plays pretty much in societies heteronormativity binary, the comic tries to reject that. Like, as if someone got told „write a book about non binary people“ without being told what non binary even is. I wouldn‘t say I loved how the comic handles it, but I found it really fascinating. Like someone wrote an essay on their relationship with sexuality and how they perceive others expression sexuality. Which comes to a conclusion I agree with. That sexuality is fluid and we‘ll die if we reject the part that calls out in us for more than the binary.

Was not as snappy as the first part. I wished there wasn’t as often „it’s them not him!!!!“ in the comic, also because the others corrected the people around the trans character way more often. It’s kinda exhausting me as a trans person. I wish the book took also more time to explore the whole wings thing mostly with Alex because … there is indeed a lot to unpack and I am sad the book dodges that type of depth. Still, a fun adventure and I hope I see the space queens again ^^. As silly as they are.

The run and this issue was over the top in its own way but I really enjoyed it.

I love how this series has such a profound love for classic sci-fi in my opinion. You can see it in this issue too. The Kirk type speach, the really on the nose allegory that’s not even an allegory anymore, the aliens who are mostly painted humans… the really ridiculous costumes…. For this is heaven.

The review that said “nothing short of phenomenal” had a point. It feels sometimes a bit fanfic-ish but I love that. I am here for it. I like the romance plot, the side characters and that some characters for a porn filled book have way more to say and character then I had in some fluffy romance novels. I loved it.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 12%.
Too cliché it’s teeth rotting painful + it definitely wants to be something what it’s not.

Usually, I hate such stories. When I see a “hey we killed hitler now” story… it usually feels like “that’s the one thing we of the alliance didn’t have the satisfaction of doing. Killing Hitler. But now we can. With fictions”

But not this one. It still has a certain insensitive tone for me, I will not fight that. But it’s 4.5 stars for a reason yk. It starts off really funny but ends up kinda tragic, tense and moving. It’s not my piece of humour but I can honour the comic for a work it tries to get done. I recommend it, not for everyone but if you want an absurd, honest to heard tale about love in dark times… this one might be for you.

The thing with modern lesbian representation is that it’s really tidy. It’s clean and has no butches at all. No leaping on gender. I never felt like it belongs to me in any way. So I didn’t find it relatable but this… oh this. How are there words in the universe to describe it? Are there any? I will try.

It’s cheeky, it’s wild, it’s funny and full of life. I love the overdramatic announcements and the really campy type of rom com announcements. The over the top „dos and donts“ the appreciation of pickiness in partners. The political and feminist stuff. The dykes to watch out for with the alphabet but also the „psychological stereotyping“. The diversity. Everything. This is everything.
