Really wanted to like this more than I did. Great concept - but poor execution. Felt like it needed another edit. The last 100 pages were fantastic until the ended (wtf was that about?!)

The concept was intriguing but unfortunately it just didn’t hit for me. I was expecting more horror - this was basically a coming-of-age story with some fantastical elements that felt trite and unimaginative. The writing was also a bit YA which is just not my vibe.

This was fine? It was pretty simplistic and tbh no one is particularly likeable because they’re such caricatures that they don’t feel fully fleshed out. The best sections of the book were Eleanor’s - that was a character that felt real and had an authentic inner life would’ve much preferred a story from her point of view.
