This is the first of many books I'll be reading that are a part of a Monthly Themed Book Exchange between myself and a friend! The theme for this month was "Memorable First Lines/Starting an Epic Journey"!

I've been having trouble getting into reading some YA books recently, but this one really helped me out of my slump! I was an avid reader back when this book came out, so I'm like SO confused that I didn't pick it up back then! I'm glad I eventually got to it though, since I'll now be adding this to the long list of YA series' I have to finish.

It's got the dystopic-utopic juxtapositions that most early 2010 books had, but the vibes in this one...very nice. I feel like it's hard to compare those to Legend, especially with how well I think the world is built and the characters are fleshed out. I LOVE dual POVs, and it was so much fun reading through the perspectives of two completely opposite ends of the spectrums when it came to the role each of the main characters, June and Day, played in the story. It was also nice to get the other side's perspective and feelings about the other main lead, especially since the POVs alternate from one to the other.

The ending? Absolutely killing me. I'm already looking forward to eventually picking up the second book!
