This book is absolutely wonderful! I adore these characters so much! Each of them have demons that keep them from moving on and watching how that effect their course and the relationships that form between them is incredibly interesting to watch. I cannot wait to read the second book and see what is in store for these lovely characters!

I wanted to enjoy this book more than I did. I’m not sure if this is a side-effect of the book being in first person since it is not something I read often, but there is a lot of explaining in this if that makes sense. Any time anything would happen we would then get 2 more pages explaining why the thing had happened or what the thing that caused it was and it just didn’t feel necessary.
The thing that truly saved this book for me is that I do love the characters. Each person we meet in this book brings something to it and you either love them or hate them. The relationships between them and the main character are very interesting and I found myself enjoying watching the evolution of them, whether it was positive or negative.
Overall, this book did end up falling a little flat for me but I’m still going to check out the rest of the trilogy to see what becomes of the rest of the characters.
The truth does not change whether it is seen or unseen, it whispered in her mind. A thing that is happening happens whether you look at it or not. And yes, maybe it is easier not to look. Maybe it is easier to say because you do not see it, it is not happening.
Wow… This book packs such a punch in so little pages… This book is so heavy and will truly leave you at a loss of words. Complacency and its negative effects are depicted so well in this novel it tears you open. What we choose not to see when it comes to those we know and love and how that effects not only those close to us but also the world we live in. I cannot fully explain how wonderful this book is.
I really loved this book! The main characters were so loveable and their individual struggles were depicted wonderfully and handled with such care. I was slightly worried going into this book since I’ve not read many historical romances but I’m glad to say that this was such an easy read I genuinely did not want to put it down.
I did feel like the last 15% or so with the secondary plot line was pretty unnecessary and could’ve been excluded. It was sort of reminiscent of a wattpad plot twist and definitely threw me off, in a bad way, but overall didn’t ruin the story for me.
