As a read, it’s fun. As an instructional manual for cooking, I guess it’s accurate, but has few surprises. I DO plan to try the biscuits and gravy and a few other recipes in here. Maybe I’ll come back and re-review after!

This is a book that I needed to read right now in 2024 — as a public school teacher and as a US citizen. It shows a lot of societal problems but also filled me with hope. It seems trite, especially with fantastical characters, but I teared up at the end.
