The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
4.0
How to tell I’m going thru it: I got home and read the bell jar for 3 and a half hours until I was finished
Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass by Lana Del Rey

there was actually quite a few pieces in here that i really enjoyed. i really do think she’s a talented writer.
two stars taken off for the use of the word “emoji” in a poem and for the forced political piece that didn’t actually offer anything of value in any way. and also because its lana del rey and i can’t give lana del rey a 5 star rating sry

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
4.0
Definitely going to read more Oscar Wilde works now. My book contains both the 1891 version and the 1890 version as well as several essays on it (which I’m not sure if I’ll read) but I think I’ll get around to reading the unedited version sometime :)
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
4.0
thinking back (it’s been a few months since ive read this) it wasn’t as great as i initially believed it to be. it’s sucks that i related a lot but in a way that didn’t bring me anything positive out of it. way too long too and i powered through it better than i thought i would but there was just so much unnecessary writing.
ok, i still think i enjoyed it though. and it definitely provoked something. but nothing positive, which isn’t bad but id like to leave a story feeling like ive grown and not like ive regressed.

just not a fan of backman’s work i guess? like there’s nothing wrong with it, just not the type of writing i usually enjoy?
