Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

It was quite underwhelming. Liz is a bad person. Wes deserved better. Laney and Michael should’ve been the main couple. I did like the fact the main characters got together in the end-it just felt a little forced. I’ve read better. That’s about it. It was far too hyped.

Nora you’ve done it again.

“He considered the weight of Laila’s foot hooked around the leg of his stool, the ridiculous way Cat bobbed and danced as she made an absolute mess of the island, and the heat of Jeremy’s shoulder where he sat almost pressed into Jean’s side.Friends, he thought again, and this time it almost felt real.”

The ending was just beautiful. It mirrors the ending of Foxhole Court, when Neil found his “home”. I love Neil’s healing as well. God. We need moreee!!
Jean was a great character choice for this book. DUAL POV, that shocked me and it was a good shock. The narrative was a joy to navigate.

This book.
I doubted Charlie’s recovery from the beginning but I’m glad she got it. Riley did not deserve a redemption arc. Michael is low-key dumb. Linus, Tanner, Felix and Blue have my heart.

Im convinced she has Stockholm syndrome. She basically ran from one abuser just to fall into the hands of another. The ending did not please me, they are going to be shackled together for life, through marriage. I get she likes to be 'punished' but there's a fine line between that and abuse. I'm sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings but it's a subjective opinion, as this is MY review.  The reason I gave it 3  stars is because I managed to finish it and that accounts for something right.

Also, the last chapter was anything but consensual. Usually, when you want to have intimate relations while the other partner is sleeping, you ask for consent. Would you not? This arrogant man decided not to and thats a crime. The whipping of the branches a few chapters earlier, disgusting!

As soon as Zade came in the picture I realised exactly where the plot was going. I’ve decided to read the series in order, something I never do. This was really interesting and was a great starting point. I love Sibby but I hope she receives help that actually works. I’m so excited to learn about Zade and the other characters. My expectations are high, I won’t lie.
