Really enjoying this series! I liked this one a little less than the furst one because I liked the challenges the characters faced more in the first book.

This was a fun time. Maybe I shouldn’t say fun, but it was. The mystery of what was going to happen was exciting. It kept me reading when I didn’t love certain parts of the writing. But even those parts I didn’t like, I see why they were in the book. For example, when Snicket describes words he uses and the repetition of a line, etc. I liked the narration too, where Snicket popped into the book too. Also, I loved Justice Strauss! She reminded me of Miss Honey from Matilda and I loved her as well.

I was hoping for more from this with the stunning cover and title! I wanted more romance and more of the characters getting to know each other before falling for each other. I didn’t care for Tau, he was pushy and really annoying at times. He was so pushy it felt like a one sided romance and then Carli just let up so he would leave her alone. It would’ve been nice to have all the characters fleshed out more than they were. I liked Talia, Dylan, Red, Aminah and Dawn and wanted more scenes with them and more information about them. There were too many storylines in this book that felt incomplete, like they were just there for shock and awe. This felt like a coming of age book marketed as a romance that failed to actually be a romance novel. Womp womp 😐 I will most likely read from this author again if she comes out with another book, as this is her debut and I’m sure her writing can improve.

It got a little boring in the last 100 pages but I did like certain aspects like the families and the community and Chloe’s friends. I also liked that Chloe was an artist and the art school aspect.

I wanted more plot development ugh lol. I wanna know what’s gonna happen with the cult! What about this secret of who Quinn really is? I want answers. And Damien, Micah and Jensen are hard to see them as different people in this one bc all they do is fuck each other and Quinn in this book. I get it, it’s smut, but I’m bored. It’s smut scene after smut scene. I want plot. I want to get to know the characters and for them to get to know each other. I want more mental health talk, specifically with Micah’s bipolar. I hope we get a longer book next with focus on the cult, the Order, Quinn’s backstory, etc and them getting to know each other/Quinn more. And the repeated “my small frame” and “he licks/touches the sensitive spot below my earlobe” sayings are driv8ng me nuts.

Didn’t love that the author included Quinn’s POV chapters we already read in Scream for Us. But other than that, this is so good AHHHHH ASDFGHJK
