Truly enjoyed this short story.
Coming into Jace’s story and point of view right away paints a clear picture of the atmosphere and the sweet honest person Jace is. The type of person who will truly give the shirt off his back for a stranger.

Was I expecting that ending, no.. It’s different and interesting and leaves you wondering.

I loved it!

‘If I’ve learned anything, it’s that if I don’t reach out for the good life blesses me with, just because I fear the bad or the loss, then I’ll only end up with a pile of bad in the end. And let’s face it—this may still end badly…but what if it doesn’t?’

I just want to say thank you so much to Entangled Publishing for sending me that email to be able to read this ARC. When I seen it I was screaming! I truly loved the first book and this book was bringing back all those amazing emotions plus some! I’m so enthralled with Meren’s story and all the connections she had made. So again thank you, to Abigail who truly knows how to work an amazing story, and to NetGalley for the platform to read this.

We pick up a few months after the first book, where Meren is with Eidolon and of course you have Reven and Cain whom come to save her. They go back to the desert with the Zariph, Wanderers, and The Vanished. Tabra is also there and in her weakening state, Meren must step up as acting Queen and is up to her to come up with a plan to stop Eidolon for good. The story takes you all over on a fast paced epic journey where death and emotions are on the line.

“What?” I offer a teasing smile. “Are you finally considering the heartmate thing?” He doesn’t smile. “I’m asking for something much bigger than that.”

“I was led to believe you’re a sweet, innocent girl.” He shakes his head. “I don’t know what’s wrong with the rest of your dominion. You’re a holy terror.”

Finished this book in one setting and loved it.
It had me constantly wondering what would happen next and kept me on the edge of my seat.

This story follows royal twins Tabra and Meren.
Meren has been hidden all her life to be the body double of that her twin. Very few people in fact knows she exists, that us until the Shadowraith comes to kidnap her at the pre coronation celebrations.

To say I enjoyed this book is an understatement at best. I loved the world building (esp Shadowood) and the characters. Reven really got to me with thinking he could never be loved because of the evil inside lurking under his skin, but Meren saw through that and saw such beauty in him. The enemies to lovers and slow burn of there relationship just has me rooting for them the whole

A slow smile spread across his handsome face. “Astora. Now, that is a term I haven’t heard in a very long time.”

“It’s a revered term of endearment. It means pulse of my heart.”

Just wow! This story has it all. •Fantasy •Fae •Enemies to lovers •Betrayal •Hidden identity •Found family.
and don’t get me started on the twist!

Hillary brought this story to life in so many ways for me and enraptured me on Maeve’s journey.
Maeve is such a strong female lead whom has dealt with so much trauma in her life and is tasked by her mother to help save her realm from the impending darkness threatening to take over everything in her land she lives so dear.

The storyline is a tad choppy at the beginning, but soars once you’re in the rhythm of things. I honestly could not put this down and the character development was phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters and were in utter shock by some.
( I’m telling you, these twist! )

The heat between Maeve and her love interest are just chefs kiss! - That Autumn Court scene. 🔥 Iyk
I honestly can not wait for the next book to see how that goes.

Hillary wrote this story so beautifully and had me on my toes the last 100 pages of this book. It is perfect for fantasy lovers. I definitely recommend.
