I absolutely adore this story. While it's not the main topic or maybe not even topic at all of the story, it makes me feel really hopeful of just working. Is a young person who only first few years works full time it feels dreadful sometimes thinking about having to work 8 hours 5 times a week all your life. But reading this story makes me it in much less dark light

I would like to preface by saying inside I give it low rating not due to the poor quality or lack of development but because it's no type of the book I would like to read. Following the story of the character make me empathetically feel powerless which is not something I like to experience when reading in my free time mostly for entertainment.
It's well written story and I understand what it's trying to do and it's doing it well. However, it is not enjoyable, and I don't think it's trying to be. It concerns me that it's description on the back include Words "wildly entertaining" , because it covers really dark topics which are described in very gruesome way, and saying that it's entertaining is complete lack of understanding either of the book or of the word "ente tainment " itself. I can see how some parts can be funny in dark humor way, but describing the whole story in three words one which is wildly entertaining.... Themes of the book are alienation, societal norms, hetero normativity, willing blindness of society etc. But also it's not magical realism whoever Marked it as such on storygraph either haven't read the book or completely misunderstood it

Romans is much less important and prominent that I expected it to be. There are two possible love interest for main character and we don't know who he will end up with till almost the last moment. First half of the story was pretty light-hearted and second part of the story I cried through all of it. While Imperial intrigue as part of the story it doesn't go into too much details and it's mostly a background for interactions between the characters.
