This book simply exists. I had neither a good nor a bad time in this book. I just had a time.

This book was a bit odd...

Max didn't want a mate at first but then when he gets mated all of a sudden, he's a pushover baby who wallows in self pity going "why doesn't he like me". If you take away the mates aspect, regardless of trauma, Jasper is a horrible partner to Max. He is unnecessarily mean and ignored him for a vast majority of the book.

I love a slow burn don't get me wrong, but we barely got any love! and the ending?? yea I'm just gonna assume they work it out because I will not be picking up book two.

There was a lot of drama going on in this book but it was a fairly easy read. It definitely did not feel very long.

Also, why did it feel like Max was only gay because of his bond and not because he liked dudes? He talks about how his parents are so accepting but he never even told them anything that was going on in his life.

Anyway, I was excited to read this book, I feel like a fool now for feeling that way. I hope Jessup continues to hone her craft tho! For a debut it was not bad just needed a bit more umpft. :)

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

somewhere between 3.5 to 4 stars so we'll say 3.75

In the beginning I was loving this book, the banter, the characters, the humor. It was all really well done and I feel like I got a good understanding of the inner workings of the characters' brains. In my head I was thinking, ahh finally! a Kane man I can call my own (I did not like Rowan from the fine print) and i was over the moon! Then somewhere near the end I was just over it.

I don't know what happened and it's very confusing because I thought the ending and everything was very sweet. Maybe the book got too mushy for me, I honestly could not tell you.

I might consider rereading this one when I'm in a more reader-y mood and see if my feelings change because I cannot think of anything wrong other than me just losing feeling for no reason.

That being said, I think this book was really well thought out and there are so many things to enjoy about this book (the scheming, the swooning, Puerto Rico, Irish accents). This book didn't feel repetitive or overly cliched. It was a good take on the fake dating, hate to love trope.

I rounded my rating up because I really did enjoy the book for the most part and I think lots of others will too!

Anything kimberly lemming writes is a good time.

Loved the banter, the spice, the romance. Everything was good.

I still love Fallon the most but Felix was a gr8 bf and I’m so happy that we got book two so soon. I really hope we get a book for each character mentioned because I don’t want this to end.

Kimberly is also in my book club and she is such a sweetie!

If you ever see her name on a book, don’t hesitate just pick it up!!

Also, the tentacles???? Last book she introduced me to “they hurt you, i’m gonna kill them” and this time it’s tentacles??? I love it here!!! I am never leavingggg. You couldn’t pay me to bad talk these books.

NGL tho, the word yeeted makes me recoil but it was only used once or twice in total so it wasn’t atrocious.

The only thing that would have made this book better is if there was artwork at the end, not nsfw but just like a candid from a scene. Kinda like the cover but a different scene because idk man these characters are so stinking cute and I need more TT.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

This comic was so cute. It was very short, about an hour read max, but enjoyable nevertheless. I didn’t like the art style at first but it has grown on me.

The depiction of depression was in my opinion accurate for some people’s experience and it was refreshing to see it shown realistically.

The book is NOT about how these friends wash their hair, it’s just some chronicles from their life and how they show up and support each other (for the most part, looking at you Cookie). It was just young black girls having being friendly and I ate it up :)

I’m looking forward to future volumes ;)

4.5 stars!

The book started off slowly but it was overall a fast paced read. I thought I wasn’t going to like it but I absolutely enjoyed it.

I need to stop lying to myself though and admit that I am a crybaby :/  The book wasn’t very sad but I am a sympathy crier and anytime something kinda sad was mentioned there I was blubbering.

I was very intrigued by the mystery element and the ending was a bit unexpected (and I’m still kinda mad).

I think Bailey handled it way better than me because I was so angry on her behalf. Especially with the laptop password (cruel). I think that was so sick and even now I’ve got angry tears for my girl. Pop off I guess, Vanessa.

I like how many different perspectives of grief were shown and how it showed that the same person isn’t really the same with everyone in their life.

This was a really good read, and I’d definitely recommend it! This would have been 5 stars if I wasn’t a crybaby. If I was strong willed, that would mean I would reread this book  but alas, I’m not always in the mood to cry. (But who knows I really liked this one so I may give it a go).

I was very excited for this book but it just wasn’t for me.

On storygraph they always ask if the book was character/ plot driven and I don’t think I understood what that meant until I read this book. This is a hugely character driven story and I think that’s why I didn’t like it.

I expected there to be like a reason (of sorts) for the characters to like each other. Other than attraction ofc. I mean something along the lines of fake dating or rivals or something but it was just a regular i like you, you like me story.

The representation we got was amazing and I liked how Skylar’s experience was documented, even the spillover effects of being adopted and not feeling like anyone wants him for him.

The book just was not for me and I was more eager to finish the book than see what happened next.

The story elements were not bad, I was just very bored.

If you like heartstopper you may like this (I liked heartstopper tho).
