Honestly could have been 4 stars. But it took me forever to read as I just hate the main characters. Especially because it is just plain stupid and them being just bad people. I mean heads up it ends on a cliffhanger, or at least with me wanting to read the second book. But as there is not one out as of now, if one does come out I do not see myself reading it. Only if it was already out and widely available.
Just a good light listen (audiobook). I am invested in the characters to a sense but not enough that if I miss a page or two I am thrown off or wanting to rewind. Makes me reflect a lot though which I mean is good and bad on it's own.
I had to read this book for my Uni class and it took me forever to read. The fact that as a whole, my class just discussed how bad it was. The writing itself was good, the characters were so bland and underdeveloped. McEwan just likes to dump information that isn't important to show off that he did research. I honestly don't get how this book did so well. And mainly I wrote an essay and my topic was just the way age is portrayed in the book, Henry is a nonce. The way he talks about children and talks uses them as similies is honestly so disturbing and it hurt me to read.
