moving, human and tender. these feeble words aren’t enough to describe it all but they’re all I’ve got to give through a book review on a screen. it’s not just a collection of poems on war/genocide but a celebration and portrait of heritage, family, the landscape, history and current tragedy.

I really, really enjoyed this book. It’s not my usual genre but the description encouraged me to request it on NetGalley and I’m so glad I did. The way the author moves us through the grief and confusion of Eli is so wonderful. Are there cringe moments? Sure, but goddam let the lesbians have their cringy cute times, god knows they deserve it. 
There’s so much more I could say about this book but right now my head is not in the right headspace to do a proper review.
Briefly? I’d recommend it to a friend. Definitely.
