The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

Fairy tales, lost children, and generations old scandal: how can you go wrong? At it's heart, this is a story of rebirth and renewal: a woman paralyzed by grief sets out to solve the mystery of her grandmother's birth, and finds a new place for herself. But it's also spooky and atmospheric and full of fairy tales, both literal-- a pivotal figure was a Victorian author of fairy tales-- and metaphorical, as the journeys of multiple characters play with tropes and motifs from fairy tales. The Rackham endpapers are a charming design element. Group this with The Thirteenth Tale and The Children's Book.
