Honestly, each story got me some how. I loved the variety od stories and I LOVED the afterwords, I feel as though I got to know why Octavia writes her novels the way she does through these short stories.  My favorite short story collection!

Also the essays were a nice touch in the middle of the craziness.

after reading the rest of the parternists series, i definitely did not think this is what Clay's Ark was about.

I think the action and plot is written so well that i don't think i mind too much.  but there content is crazy like fr fr tred lightly

genuinely so sad and i hate the fact that this was based off of  true story.

personally i appreciate the story of someone affected by something that happens to young Black girls way too often. i found myself ready to cry so often, and i appreciate that this was written

simultaneously funny and provoking, i loved the nods to orher Black plays!
GENUINELY THOUGH, rachel was spitting.  i think it starts a really important conversation of intersectionality and how much of white supremacy influence the Black communtiy.
SUCH A GREAT READ, i wonder what the stage would be like

i resonate so deeply with bitter and i found myself so surprised to read something that supports the idea that artists have such a powerful part of the revolution and the fear of being on the frontlines is okay.  i'll say it a million times but art has and will always change the world.

this story was such spectacular plot that i couldn't put it down once the angel was brought in.  reading this after pet was SO perfect.  i woild recomment pet and bitter a million times for every artist who feels that they aren't doing enough to make a change.

You know, I thought I didn't like this book much at first but I feel pretty bad for Doro but I HATE THAT MAN, I'm so glad I read Mind of My Mind first.
I do have to say though, Anyanwu
/Emma
is one of the best characters I've read from Octavia.  I think the moral dilemmas she faced were enough to drive anyone crazy, but sometimes all you can do is try to help in the way that you can and i applaud her for that.  the world is TOUGH, and seeing Blackness through the centuries was crazy through the lenses of characters that can literally turn white?!?!?!
but overall once i passed book 1 it was a great read!
