Enjoyable read even if it's not Christmas. I enjoyed the first part better than the second half, but that's just because I'm a sucker for a good mystery and the whole infamous "first meeting" between two soon to be lovers.
Random Thought: Does Dash remind anybody else of Holden Caulfield?
The whole sarcastic and broody thing was cute for awhile, but after a certain point I just wanted his hard outer shell to be broken open and for him to become more welcoming to the adventure of Christmas. Not to mention, Lily was a bit annoying too with her overly childlike love of Christmas and the unspoken air of "I can't walk further than my front stoop before one of my family members calls me back to our front porch" babyish personality that Cohn gave her.
I would honestly love to see this book turned into a cutesy ABC Family Original movie that gets put on repeat for the channel's annual 12 Days of Christmas festivities. This is another book I'm glad I read because of BookTube.

After revisiting this book and rethinking my feelings about this book, I realized that this is actually my favorite Austen book so far. It has whit, humor, and a little bit of that "Besties 4 Life" thing going on. Check out my mini-review of this book here: Top 5 Required Reading Books.

I actually gave this book a 2.5
The story started off good enough however, the leading man, Quinn turned into a demanding character halfway through the book in terms of the way he interacted with Janie. After this, I just lost interest in the book. I eventually ended up skimming the last 40 or so pages. In terms of plot and character, I'm glad Janie's friends were there for her, but I would've like to have seen one of them stage an intervention for her due to her losing her principles and sense of self once she started dating Quinn. The storyline was cute, but a bit dicey in places.
On another note, I thought Reid's writing vocabulary was overdone. She was good with writing humorous lines, yet when it came done to actual verbiage, she used $10 Words where a simple $3 word would've done.
I can't say I'd recommend this book in terms of being one of my favorites however, it is a good book if you want a fluffy romance novel.

This was definitely one of Woolf's better works in my opinion. It was done in stream of consciousness. However, the subject matter felt more contemporary due to the fact that all the characters were made into realistic beings who's inner thoughts held my attention in a draining manner. This is definitely a plus being that it is one of the main things I abhor about classics. I won't say that I "loved" this book, but I will say that it is an easier read for me than Orlando was.
This story sort of puts me in mind of [b:Pygmalion|7714|Pygmalion|George Bernard Shaw|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1453757285s/7714.jpg|184399] by Bernard Shaw. The characters in this book try to reshape a simple peasant seamstress into a refined individual however, they succeed far beyond what they mean to. The story in itself is simple, but the stakes of Dai's novel are high for the two main characters. I highly recommend this novel. It is only 170 pages and a quick read.
I gave this book 2.5 stars.
I think this was a case of me reading a book that was meant for children when I'm too old to appreciate the absurdity of the plot.
The storyline in this book is so zany that unless you're willing to completely give yourself over to the narrator who tells this overly embellished story of a father who gets waylaid by random fictional characters as he goes to buy milk for his kids breakfast, you will not enjoy the story at all. I was ok for about the first 1/3 of the book, but after that, I lost interest and hurried through the book. Nevertheless, the illustrations in this book were fantastic. I loved seeing the drawings and found myself focusing on them more than the stories at time. While I wouldn't read this book again, I could see it being a good fit for people with kids who want to do group reads with their children.
