Writing My Wrongs: Life, Death, and Redemption in an American Prison by Shaka Senghor

This is not my typically genre or topic, but I was encouraged by the PopSugar challenge to read this for both librarian recommended and written by someone who was incarcerated.

Overall, it follows a lot of what we already know - overpopulated prison systems, racist society, and power trips.  It was interesting to see it from an actual convict's point of view though.

An excellent book 2 of a series.  It gives me good D&D campaign vibes!

Full transparency: I only picked this up because it's a musical, so it fulfills a reading prompt.  Plus I want to see the musical because I love the music.

A very good storyline, although I definitely rolled my eyes a few times at Evan Hansen.  A good reminder that you aren't alone, even if you feel that way.

Did I pick this up for the cover? Yes.
Did I think it was magic and witches? Yes.
Was I wrong? Technically, yes.

This follows Isla as she is kidnapped and transported to a new realm to be a special someone for their guardians.  Definitely some spice but I've read spicier.

Book 1 of a duology

Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.
It's a DNF for me.  Between it being a topic I have zero interest in, a memoir, and just...not good, lots of reasons I'm passing on this one.
