BEHOLD…. The book that got me out of a 6 month book slump. Such an incredible read- fast paced with multiple interesting plot points that left you guessing. I loved that slowly throughout the book there were mysterious nuggets that were solved to keep you entertained until we got to the big reveal. Could not recommend this book enough! Go read it!!
The first book in this series was a high 4.5… I loved it. Whilst this wasn’t quite at this level, it was still very enjoyable and I’m excited to continue the series. The narrator of the first book was one of my favourites, this audiobook narrator was different and took a bit to get used too but I was still enjoyable. The romance kinda throws me off, not a fan. But I love Pandora’s character and her relationship with Celia. This has been such a fun YA fantasy series and it feels a bit like a guilty pleasure.
I finally decided to start my Throne Of Glass journey. I had previously tried to read TOG and couldn’t get into it to so I decided to read the assassins blade first as I know you can read it after Crown of Midnight. I was not expecting to love this as much as I did..
Now my rating is questionable; it could potentially be a 4.5 but I am unsure. I’m going to wait and see how I feel after continuing the series. I’ll rank my favourites and that may cause me to change my rating (it’s just what I like to do).
I personally would recommend starting with this book though everyone may not agree.
I love our main character Caleana. And don’t even get me started about Sam😫.
I felt it was time to embark on my folk of the heir journey. This book reminded me how much I love fae stories. I found the first half difficult to get into but once I reached halfway I was fully enthralled. Most fantasy books take a bit to get into though so I was expecting that. I do wish there was a little more character and setting explanation. It may be just because I am used to more in depth explanations but I found it hard to visualise specifically what the characters looked like and had to look up fan art multiple times to remember. Other than that it was a great first book to a trilogy, filled with politics, betrayal and a REAL enemies to lovers plot. I don’t think I’ve read an enemies to loves quite like this one. I absolutely adore Jude (and Cardan)! The sister dynamic reminded me a lot of ACOTAR but I found that and the fae element was the only real comparison; everything else was entirely different and unique. The politics was a very strong point in this book which i love! I am excited to see where this series will go.
“If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse”
I listened to this via audiobook and I barely ever listen to audio books. I struggle to pay attention but this was fantastic! I highly recommend the audio book. Overall, this book was entertaining and very intriguing. I found the main character very likeable and was fully into the story. Despite the semi bizarre plot, I found Pandora to feel very real. The environment was very atmospheric and definitely gave Wednesday vibes!! This book is a perfect example of why I love YA so much. It’s fun!
It’s hard to describe how I felt about this book. I enjoyed it. I probably wouldn’t recommend it though because I feel like the majority of people wouldn’t like this book. It’s slow paced and not a lot happens therefore if you’re someone like me who typically reads fast paced books, this will be challenging. That being said I’m glad I read it. It was decent and the ending had me staring at the wall for 5 minutes.
