this book just made me feel. i loved the characters and the world and the concept. this was simply john green doing what john green does and i loved it

This book was genuinely so mediocre.
I love Young Adult novels. Red Queen did not live up to the expectations I had, not only for this series but for YA series in general. It lacked an interesting plotline, characters, and world.

I found the characters difficult to bond with and mostly unlikable (Mare suuucks), the world lackluster, and the plot predictable. The foreshadowing for the plot twists might as well have jumped out of the book and smacked me across the face.

I'm giving this a 2.5 ⭐️  because it is one of the most average books I have ever read. To give it some credit, it is easy to read.

There are so many YA Fantasy series and books that are SO MUCH BETTER. Do yourself a favor:
- Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo (these books changed my brain chemistry)
- The Legendborn Cycle by Tracy Deonn (unfinished but SO GOOD!!!!)
- The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare (the end of this series destroyed me)
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (obviously)

i simply got so bored

Elsie Silver is such a hit-or-miss author for me. Some of her books are INCREDIBLE, but other ones just really fall flat. Unfortunately, this book just fell flat for me. I just didn't really like Vaughn, although Billie was a good character. It was fine 🤷‍♀️

i just got so bored honestly

this series as a whole was fun and whimsical. i love jacks. evangeline was not my favorite FMC tho

cute, whimsical, and gave me the hit of dopamine that i needed. blonde MMCs give me the ick, but Jacks is the first exception i’ve ever found 😍

cute, whimsical, and a solid 3 star book.

i was enthralled by this book. the ending felt slightly rushed, but all-in-all i adored it
