Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson

It was good, but it was not Carl Sagan.
I wouldn't recommend this book to someone who doesn't know anything about science. Not that the whole book is hard to understand, but at least the first two chapters require some knowledge in physics (and I guess that when you start reading a book and you can't understand it, you'll feel demotivated).
Books like this may be the reason why so many people think that science is too hard for them - when, actually, the problem is that intelligent people struggle in explaining science in a simple way.

Amazing story, but this last volume fell short.

The only thing keeping me from giving this book 1 star is the universe in which the story happens.
I found it very interesting, well organized and credible. The scientific discoveries and explanations are consistent, as well as the evolution in areas such as philosophy and politics.
However, that's the ONLY thing I really appreciated from this (unnecessarily) gigantic book.
Firstly, the characters are too basic. The main plot includes those personalities you expect to see in all "adventure books". One severe captain who will eventually end up being kind; one funny character who always brings cheerful moments; one soldier with a mysterious past and the main character whose story starts with some terrible accident. Nothing new there.
Then you have the story. Nothing formidable. The main character discovers something new; something bad happens; she goes in an adventure to fix things; some friends die in the way.... And finally, she ends up realising that she's the only one who can save the world.

I think I'm going to use this one as my comfort book and re-read it a couple of times.
It's not a perfect book. It may be a little repetitive; sometimes it looks more like a self-help manual.
However, I had a good time reading it and, in the end, that is what really matters.

Average prose and pretty predictable. Apart from that, it's a book with great messages and an wonderful story.
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

It wasn't even enjoyable to be reading this book.
Although the idea of knowing you will die before it happens isn't new, I loved the way this concept was adapted to the social media world we're living in.
The real problem of this book is, however, that everything seems too forced, unrealistic and rushed. You don't even have time to feel attached to the characters. The way they act and feel is too strange.
I'd love to read another book, happening in this same world, but with a different story. One with a better structure, more "deep talk" moments and a realistic approach.
