Fine boot of fantasy. A bit murdery for my taste, though in fairness the protagonist are carnivores.

I found the prose quite confusing and difficult to follow. I even downloaded a different copy fro Project Gutenberg thinking some text might be missing. But apparently not. I didn’t love the story, either, would rather a different ending where Lucy rejects both dudes forever, but no, it is an artifact of its time.

A bit more complicated than the other books, I found it a little harder to keep track of the characters. But I enjoy spending time with these people, and find the emotional stakes just right, not at all existential or universe threatening.
