The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

I was rereading this book for the first time in almost 3 years but I am still absolutely in love with it. It is just the right balance of humor and tranquility and it sends you on a roller coaster of emotions (especially towards the end).

Throughout both the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series and the Heroes of Olympus series, Rick Riordan was able to put a modern twist on Greek/Roman mythology and completely immerse you in his novels. Both PJO and HoO are my favorite series' of all time and this final installation of the HoO brings the perfect end to the series, while still setting up enough context for Riordan's Trials of Apollo series.
One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus

OH. MY. GOODNESS. So I might as well start off by saying that I had previously read One of Us is Lying a few months after it came out and I was HOOKED. I read the whole book in one sitting and it's still one of my favorites to this day. I then found out about this book but didn't quite get around to reading it until I found out that Karen M. McManus was going to be at a local book convention near me. I went out to buy this book and ended up being able to meet McManus and get the book signed (she was an absolute sweetheart).

I started this book but unfortunately got swamped with a reading slump, but after a couple of months I finally picked up the book again. LET ME TELL YOU when I say that I regret not reading this book earlier, I mean that I REGRET IT. This book was everything I wanted it to be and more.

The book starts off with a quick little recap of the last book and an introductory anonymous text chat (only about 4 pages total). We then dive into the perspective of a character named Maeve (Bronwyn's little sister). The book switches between the POVs of the 3 main characters (Maeve, Phoebe, and Knox). I normally don't like reading books with multiple POVs but the way McManus wrote them was beautiful. There were never any dull chapters you wanted to skip over, and I always felt that that person's take on the specific chapter was crucial to the storyline.

To sum up the book (no spoilers ofc) there is a copycat of Simon Keller's About That (a Bayview High gossip forum), however this time it is in the form of Truth or Dare. Unknown (as they are referred to in the book) will send out a text to a random Bayview student saying "truth or dare". That student then has 24 hours to respond. If they fail to respond, Unknown will reveal a secret about them to everyone. This book takes you through the process of how Bayview deals with the game's consequences as well as how the characters work to unravel the identity of Unknown.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and would not put the book down. The ending had me completely shocked and my heart was physically racing, along with the characters themselves. The plot twists that McManus included were insane and I can wholeheartedly say that I had no idea what was coming next.

I will say that this book was a bit slower-paced than I originally wanted (hence why I rated it 4.5/5) but it was never too slow to the point where I felt that it was dragging on. Towards the middle, it really started picking up, and by the end, I was absolutely mesmerized.

I HIGHLY recommend this book if you like a good YA Thriller (and even if you don't). McManus's writing was a work of art and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the future.

I read this book in one sitting. And it made me sob. Once agian, Leigh Bardugo's writing was absolutely phenomenal.

This book was amazing from the start. I physically could not put this book down. In the final installment of the Shadow and Bone series, Leigh perfectly finishes what the first book started, in an amazing (yet tear-jerking) conclusion. Not only was the writing beautiful, but it was also incredibly moving with amazing quotes. While Ruin and Rising didn't end the way I expected it to, I was still incredibly satisfied with the ending.

*SLIGHT SIEGE AND STORM SPOILER*
Picking up from where Siege and Storm left off, Alina and Mal race to find Morozova's last amplifier in one final attempt to save Ravka, but along the way secrets are revealed that make Alina question power and her past. In the last book of the series, that stakes are high, and Alina has to decide how far she is willing to go to save Ravka and what she is willing to sacrifice for the good of her country.
