“There’s power in choosing your own path.”
Loved this story. Kennedy Ryan writes the most complex characters, and Lennix and Maxim are no exception. The spice was solid, and so was the plot. The author ends this book on a cliffhanger, so I’m excited to dive right into the next one.

This series started off solid. But unfortunately got worse and worse. 😬🫠

I know this is a series of improbable meet-cutes, but there was nothing improbable nor cute about this story.

“The quintessential lost boy.” Her lips grazed mine as she spoke. “Don’t worry, Peter Pan, I’ll be your Wendy.” ✨
Okay, so one thing about me is that I detest flashbacks. I understand their necessity in providing character backstories, but I’m more of an “in the moment” person. Unfortunately, this entire book serves as Joey and Aoife’s backstory, and I must admit, I’m not particularly invested in it. I don’t feel like the characters significantly developed after reading this book, and frankly, I’m ready to get to the present day.

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
“Unhealed trauma is a crack. And all the little hard things that trickle into it that would have rolled off someone else, settle. Then when life gets cold, that crack gets bigger, longer, deeper. It makes new breaks. You don’t know how broken she was or what she was trying to do to fill those cracks.” 💔
I will quite literally devour anything Abbey Jimenez writes! She’s easily one of my all-time favorites at this point.
This book does a fantastic job of unpacking PTSD and childhood trauma. And sometimes you can love people, but you can’t save them. I’m really happy with how the author chose to end the story. Emma deserved to have the happy ending she never got, and she was never going to get that with Amber Grant weighing her down.
