It's about a witch who is kind of alone besides her family and cat, Silas. Her father has a secret, and she must fix it.

It has some sapphic spice, a decent bit for how short the book is. It was a fast and short read, but it was good. I wish it was longer or had a follow-up book. I honestly want more. It will be recommended to friends! It gives beauty and the beast before Belle goes to the castle village vibes.

Holly is a witch from Haven's Hill. She tried to leave and start a new life somewhere else. She inevitably gets drawn back home, but now something is wrong. A hex gets put on Haven Hill. She must figure out how to break it before it's too late. In searching for an answer, it forces her to work with her rival, Cricket.

I don't normally read this type of book, but it was refreshing and light-hearted. There is some spice in this book, but it is not over the top. It is an easy and fun read. I like the mystery and plot twist. I also like how the house is also a character and adds some humor to the book. I would recommend this to friends.

I try not to judge a 1st book to harshly since it usually it the introduction to the world and characters book to set up for the rest of the series. This book wasn't heavy into the world/background building like some can be. I dont mind it but could have enjoyed a bit more. I'm not normally into vikings or Norse Mythology, but it was easy to keep up and understand. I have adhd so slow spots in books will cause me sometimes drag a book out. This book took me longer than I'd like to read, not because it was boring or slow but because of life being busy. But that didn't mean I didn't think about it all day, I would be dead tired trying to force myself to stay awake just so I could read one more page. I can say it did have "slower" areas but not slow enough to make me put the book down or want to read something else. It did have one thing in the book that I was able to guess but then boom something I didn't guess.

Freya definitely wasn't my favorite in the very beginning, but I grew to like her more through the book. She seemed to have some inner challenges that a normal person could have of having to choose between right/wrong or doing for yourself vs. others. She did have times she frustrated me, but in the end, I did like her.

Bjorn's motives for his actions became a bit more apparent towards the end. I liked him in the beginning and loved him by the end. Also, Bjorn has now made it into my top 5 book boyfriends. He better not let me down in the next book(s).

I definitely can't wait to see where the story goes and will definitely be picking up the next book.
