Loved this book just as I did the first one!
Maybe I liked this one a little less because I feel the story is less lighthearted and the characters' interactions are more complicated and burdened by what happened in the first one, but I still loved the plot, the dialogues, the jokes.... Everything really! I love the diversity in terms of characters and their backgrounds, and you definitely couldn't have expected the ending.

Spoilers ahead!
Spoiler Perhaps it's just me and it might not sound fair but I am getting a little bit tired of David's actions and attitude. I understand that he is motivated by a lot of different factors, his life has not been easy, and his friend is missing (and later, found dead), but the self-destructive behavior that he presents is not endearing in any way, just concerning. It makes me think that maybe Stevie should not be with him. Sometimes. But then they are together and I also ship that so hard. I don't know. I can't wait to read the third one!!!

Also, Larry leaving broke my heart.

SpoilerThis one was a little bit disappointing. The plot was interesting and the mystery well developed, but I felt like the ending was somewhat anti-climatic.

I feel like the story was built around the intrinsic desire of Ivy to be magic, or at least to have a connection with this world that could translate into a connection with her sister. So she lies to be a part of this, and she forgets that she is not sometimes, and I guess that's fine.

What irritates me is how she seems to believe and not believe her relationship with her sister time and time again. They would be talking and bonding and she will be thinking "she is pretending a little, but that's fine", like, every time they interacted. Which is the reason I don't understand why, by the end of the book, not only does she let her go without punishment (even though she admits to having drugged her), but also, she blames herself for the lack of relationship between the two of them. It makes little sense. I understand taking accountability for her part on the strain in their relationship, but Tabitha just admitted a crime and to have pretended to be your friend this whole time.

I don't know, the ending didn't go well for me. She didn't explain what happened with Alexandria and the consequences of her actions, with Rahul..... I guess I expected more, more sense of closure.
