My first Emily Henry, and she did not disappoint!
Pros
- Nora and Charlie have amazing banter that had me laughing out loud
- The New York and Regional Town locations were beautifully described
I always appreciate when the author allows the characters to have their own journey, so Nora not giving up everything to be with Charlie was a highlight. Women can want their own life. I guess technically there was a 3rd act break up but I appreciate it wasn't a stupid miscommunication - Libby and the cast of side characters were all quite strong and really filled up this book.
The tension between Libby and Nora, and having more to the book than just falling in love with Charlie really rounded out this book - The rom com tropes and meta use were well appreciated by a rom com fanatic
Cons
- Spice was not really spicy at all- or maybe I've been reading more hardcore stuff than I realised. Reminds me of Taylor Jenkins Reid, and general new adult- a light description of the event
- The story at points felt predictable and I knew
Charlie and Nora would get together eventually. Maybe that's best described as pacing, after the first half of the book the pace seemed to slow and it felt like the book was going through the motions a little bit. I read what I read because I like it, and I don't think the book should apologise for it, but will I be racing to re-read it, unlikely. Will I forget the characters' names? Probably.

Quotes
That's what made me fall in love with reading: the instant floating sensation, the dissolution of real-world problems, every worry suddenly safely on the other side of some metaphysical surface. Today is different.
Is there anything better than iced coffee and a bookstore on a sunny day? I mean, aside from hot coffee and a bookstore on a rainy day.
You’re in books. Of course you don’t have a life. None of us do. There’s always something too good to read.
That’s the thing about women. There’s no good way to be one. Wear your emotions on your sleeve and you’re hysterical. Keep them tucked away where your boyfriend doesn’t have to tend to them and you’re a heartless bitch.
Maybe it’s possible to have more than one home. Maybe it’s possible to belong in a hundred different ways to a hundred different people and places.

Pros
- Got Oak's perspective
- More Jude, Cardan and Taryn time
- Loved the world
- Setting up for another book?
- Half listened via audiobook and it was very good! I often forgot it was only one narrator doing all these different voices
Cons
Oak turned out to be more airhead than the first book portrayed and while it probably made sense it also was a bit of a let down I didn't really care for Oak and Wren, there wasn't as much of a draw as there was with Jude and Cardan - Fade to black scene

- Wren is very apathetic for most of the book which made it a struggle
- But when she realised who she was, she really ran with it and the last 50 pages completely made up for it!
- Oak is an interesting character and I wish we got his perspective
- Elfhame is always a delight to read about
