Zombie Season, Volume 1 by Justin Weinberger

4.5

Zombie Season by Justin Weinberg was a fun novel. I had seen a few reviews of older audience rating it low, so I wanted to give it a look. I thought it was the perfect type of zombie story for the younger audience. To the point when I finished the novel, I bought a copy and gave it to my little sister to read. (She loved it.)

To be fair not everything worked for me. But I am not the target audience. So, I talked to her about it, and she disagreed with me about every point except for the last one. Some of the side character development I thought could be stronger. And some of the world building could've been more flushed out. But overall, I will continue to recommend this book to people.

I don't have much to say. It is as graphic as it sounded. I enjoyed the writing and the story for the most part. Just didn't love the execution by the end.

It's Me, Charlie was a disturbing read. It went places I personally didn't want it to go. But overall would recommend to people who are looking for this kind of story. I will also say some of the writing was not my personal favorite, but that is subjective.

Charlie as a character felt really real to me. So, bravo to Guidroz for accomplishing that. That was probably the most haunting part.

I thought the beginning was quite good. Outside of the SA, I liked the writing. And laughed a few times out loud. However, the MC turned very repetitive, and it got boring. To the point by the end, I just wanted it to be over.

Recommend looking up the triggers if you decided to read.

 I really enjoyed it.

What I Liked:
-The writing.
-Some of the twist.
-The length.
-The MC.

What I Didn't Like:
-I thought the pace was a bit mixy.
-Other characters felt 1 to 2 dimensional.
-Overall though the execution could have been better.
-Some twist I hated.
-And the ending.
