I quite liked the absurdist feel of it and it contains a dry humor that I especially enjoyed. The way the narrator, our hero, is sketched made me lowkey giggle. However, after a while I got slightly tired of this and it lost my interest.

Beautifully written, very poetic. However, the romantic storyline felt incredibly unrealistic to me. It is so obvious that the two don't fit together that I got very annoyed with it over time, I wanted the focus to be on other things.

Starts out as fun, but gets repetitive very soon. I also did not appreciate the shocking plot twist at the end, which I felt did not work well in the rest of the narrative and was unnecessary.
Violeta by Isabel Allende

For a book called after the main character I thought it took way too long before I actually felt I got to know her. There are some huge historic information dumps and they are not woven nicely into the narrative. I did get taken in by Allende's writing style though.
