This is one of my least favorite Butler novels. The pace is really slow and I felt it led nowhere.

Kindred explores the over-arching theme of slavery and how this brutal history shapes the present. I enjoyed how Butler interprets realism. Kindred is reflective and a page turner. I recommend it. It’s definitely one of my favorite cooks I’ve read this year.

Beloved is one of the most amazing novels I’ve ever read. Toni Morrison is a genius and there is no storyteller quite like her. I don’t want to say too much about Beloved (especially without giving away the brilliance of the book)  other than you have to read it to experience it for yourself.

Did not finish book.
Book is labeled as fast-paced but it’s definitely not. It’s a slow burn and I had to dnf it.
