Jazz  is the fifth Morrison novel I’ve read and she continues to impress me as I dive further into her work. The characters are so real and imagined because she gives them so much backstory and attention. For me, that’s what makes the book. She’ll write a whole 50 pages on a character who was only mentioned once and at first you’ll be like what girl. Then by the end you’re like ohhh I see what you did there Ms. Morrison. I recommend Jazz (and all of her work, haha)

CRA was funny and lighthearted. I enjoyed the movie so I said why not read the book. It’s a nice, quick read.

This is one of my least favorite Butler novels. The pace is really slow and I felt it led nowhere.

Kindred explores the over-arching theme of slavery and how this brutal history shapes the present. I enjoyed how Butler interprets realism. Kindred is reflective and a page turner. I recommend it. It’s definitely one of my favorite cooks I’ve read this year.
