A well written story with very detailed cultural and linguistical elements that allowed me to feel at times that what I was reading was real...but that also meant the storyline was a little slow (even tediously necessary) to read through.
Though at other times, I was spellbound.
I appreciated the absence of gratuitous sex or gory death scenes to enhance the excitement.
I felt that in more than one occasion the storyline was making a big deal about certain societal values....like yes, I see you acknowledge same sex relationship, female leadership, racism, and indigenous vs new settlers.
