Did not finish book. Stopped at 3%.
The narrator and tone are obviously meant to be irreverent, but the writing isn’t nearly interesting or novel enough to carry on with. The only way i see myself completing this book is by buying a physical copy and guilting myself into it.

I couldn’t put it down. Raw and frank to the point of discomfort. My first Carmen Maria Machado book and god the things i would do for this woman.

Wonderful premise that is never satisfactorily expanded on, and characters that aren’t a lot more than physical appearance and insert sexuality/gender identity. I wouldn’t be so mad about it if the book hadn’t lured me in with promises of fat, queer cowboys (cowpersons?) as well. Reads like an au on ao3 on account of the writing and utter lack of world-building.
