An improvement over the first, especially second half. It was entertaining, fun, and easy read. I do recommend it for fans of well developed characters and fun ghost hunting stories.

Fun as heck, with a cool twist. The start was a bit slow and boring but once it kicked into the right gear it was on. Loved the second half. Will pick up the forth down the line.

It would really be a 3.5. It somehow manages to be between the first title and the second. It's tensioned filled, and the first half is really good, where the second half becomes cliche after cliche and easy to see twist coming. Still, it's a fun ride none the less. I had a feeling Barry had a lot more stories in mind to write. Jasper going after many killers before facing off against his dad. Still, it ended the series on a good note and I'm glad to see it wrapped up. I'll keep an eye open for Barry's other works after this one!

While the writing style is something to get use to and a few cliches pop up the characters are handled very well. It's not going to baby you and people will die. Not to mention a cliffhanger ending that works. Overall, very enjoyable. Book two has been bought!

This series is just non-stop awesomeness. Another captivating book with stories that keep on twisting and keeping you intrigued the entire time. The cast really makes these books, and the ending leaves you NEEDING volume 5. Too bad gotta wait months!

Story was weird, odd, intriguing, but died out around 60% of the way through. The back and forth didn't bother me as much as the past becoming boring and the present even more so. I really enjoyed it at first, the crazy sick family that is in this book, but when someone left it became far worse. I felt the story could of done better without zombies/monster things as well.

This book was...wow. I mean, the hardest thing about reading this book is there are no "good" guys. Nobody seems morally correct with the exception of maybe Hilary's sister and little brother. Dad? Abusive piece of shit. Mom? Useless piece of shit. Which leaves me wondering, who were we to root for?

I think that was my problem in this one. The first title had some repulsive actions from certain people but you still had someone to root for. To hope to win in a way. In this one, you knew no one would win. None of the people you can even begin to call "good" which made it hard to get through.

The characters were so dumb in this book. Not dumb as made bad, but purposely made to be dumb (I'm assuming) The mother in particular was just so useless and annoying that if anyone should have died first besides pops, it was her. She drove me crazy of how many times I wanted her to die and she kept on living while characters I liked died for no reason.

The only negative really can think of is some scenes go on a bit to long, to much explaining of what characters are thinking and such.

The good are some death scenes (one in particular around 73% was just too much but daring to do) fast paced, horror filled, and well enough done dialog.

I enjoyed reading it, but it wasn't an easy read. Mostly due to how much I hated most of the characters haha. But it felt important before I dive into book 3 to finish this trilogy. I'm really hoping this bitch gets what's coming to her!

While some stories are a little bit "meh" the overall theme, characters, and pacing make this very enjoyable. Especially all the cameos! If you're a horror buff check this one out, super cheap on Amazon too!
