I’m a sucker for books about books, and while the pacing was really really strange (incredibly slow in the beginning and then really fast towards the end), I loved the world that was built and the magic system was really fun! I’d love to see more from this author, its a pretty good debut!

The writing is absolutely gorgeous and I love the way that the world is constructed. Somehow the writing felt a bit disconnected though, and I didn’t feel any emotional connection to the story or the characters. The world is so much fun though, Silvia Moreno Garcia’s writing style is so vivid and detailed

This is such a well-written satire thats bonkers from start to finish. R.F Kuang’s writing is so fluid that it’s fascinating to see that she’s also written Babel. This book felt like sipping some PIPING hot tea

I enjoyed the multi narrative structure and the intergenerational conflict, but I didn't feel super invested in the characters

I quite enjoyed this! It was a very fun sequel and I enjoyed how all the characters were developed. I only wish the story came together a bit more but beyond that it was a good time!

Incredibly beautiful writing but it’s a lot of characters to keep track of. I definitely enjoyed all of the themes the book explored, but it was definitely very non linear
