okay so for a lot of other people it seems that the ending was the largest issue with the whole thing, but controversially i thought that was fine, it was very in character. my biggest issue was the fact that i felt like i skipped four books between this first and second book because of that two year time jump, i feel like luc was missing a lot of dimension in this book, but i would also pay lots of money to have this book from oliver’s point of view, because he is genuinely an interesting character. overall it just felt a bit incomplete to me, i did actually love the message it was trying to send but i don’t think it ever got the chance to expand on the conversations it was trying to open.

this is the first book i finished in one sitting how insane, this is getting the lower rating (it absolutely would be 4.5 stars) if the stronger subjects were handled with more care, it was good, but very frustrating at times ESPECIALLY at the end, but for the time it was written  i would have loved to see more care given to the theme of mental health

i liked it. it was original and a fun concept and i do like that the romance was not the main plot point and it was more focused on the platonic friendship. i think i would have given it a 4.5 if it had a more solid ending instead of it being a sort of show’s over ending. 3.75 for tumblr era nostalgia. in itself though i though it was great, a lot of the characters were flawed people, i liked watching them make mistakes. it also had really good commentary of young people getting really famous on social media and its damage.

went in expecting the standard cartoon cover rom com, ended up with an insanely emotional story about learning to let people in and letting them see what you dont think they want to see, and seeing where you go wrong as well. AND this book has some of the best OCD rep i have seen in ages i just can do nothing but rave about it, the insane character progression of charlie and looking at stereotypes of neurodivergent people being hard to work with although really they are just misunderstood. loved this book very very loads

i won't pretend that this series is objectively good. it isn't. the writing is pretty bad sometimes, the graphic detail is overwhelming, you can definitely tell that it was a product of its time. i quite simply do not recommend this series and never would to anyone, if despite this you decide to read it anyway, please check ALL of the warnings. but it got 5 stars because of the way that the relationships between every one of the characters is written, there is a clear understanding of boundaries and they are never broken, 5 stars means it was memorable and i definitely think that this one was.

these books are never ever disappointing, it got the 4.5 because of the way that the characters intertwine with one anothers lives as well as the appearances from the characters from the first book. the stakes were higher the relationships were more interesting, everything i felt was missing from the last one
