I enjoyed it but even tho the romance had some very good quotes it felt more like the beginning of the story instead of the end.

liked this book enough to not be able to stop reading but the slow burn was just so… slow.

I don't know why every time I reread this book I'm surprised how little we really got Clary/ Simon dating. I mean they kissed a few times but that's pretty much it. Thank God Clary's romance with Simon didn't last that long. I don't really get how he called her his girlfriend after they kissed once. Don't teenagers usually talk about these things before calling someone their boyfriend or girlfriend?

I don't think anyone liked the reveal that was in book one (or if they did-- that's really messed up) but I actually enjoyed how Cassandra Clare wrote the aftermath. It could be because I knew what's really happening but Jace and Clary dealing with everything was maybe my favorite part of the plot. Clary could've handled it better but she's what fifteen and there's no book for dummies for things like that. I also like that even when they thought that they were siblings-- they couldn't help but be drawn to each other.

I felt so bad for Jace. He had just found out that Valentine had faked his death and on top of that no one trusted him and the girl he was interested in turned out to be his sister-- and she was avoiding him. Then there was Imogen who definitely didn't trust him even though he hadn't done anything. I know Jace is this badass shadowhunter but I just wanted to protect him. I kind of wish he had gotten more mad at Maryse for pretty much giving up on him because of his father.

I'm so glad we finally got some scenes involving Magnus and Alec. I just really wish we had seen how they started dating. Really I would be willing to read anything involving these two. Here's for hoping that Clare will one day continue their series! Alec is having a hard time accepting himself and their relationship but I'm glad he stayed to help Magnus when he was pretty much out of magic juice.

I actually didn't remember Maia had a brother let alone everything that happened in her childhood. I kind of like the idea of her and Simon being friends. They have a lot of things in common, like both being turned into different species.

I might not be impressed with every plot this book has but I gotta admit that I love the writing. I can't help but be sucked into the story, no matter what happens.

All in all I liked reading City Of Ashes but I can't wait for Jace and Clary to finally find out the truth. This book managed to make me frustrated, laugh, feel bad for certain characters and root for Magnus/Alec and Jace/Clary.

I liked it even if it’s weird that the brother is acting like a possible love interest
