I’m just not really interested in the story. Characters keep having guilt about being rich which I can’t relate to. The historical aspect might be interesting but I’d rather just look g it up or find a different book. Writing style wasn’t bad
In all honesty I found this very confusing, possibly because I’m not great at understanding literary fiction. But something about how illuminating it is - showing is the harsh reality of life for two women decades apart, that’s what prompts me to give it a four. For craft alone it can’t be lower. This narrator is INCREDIBLE. Definitely looking into more books with her narration. I found the first part to be very upsetting. The dehumanization of the woman. Then we get to know the second woman and come to care for her. Augh. Emotionally wow.
Perfectly fine nice story! Cute relation development. My library accidentally categorized it as general audiences and not adult which changed my expectations significantly, so I wasn’t prepared for the sex scenes. Esp bc the characters are so young but I don’t know the exact age, although they’re going into college.
Anyway is was cute enjoyable chill. Totally fine, not blowing my mind.
Pros: -gorgeous art -I was able to read it in one sitting -kinda interesting storyline points being introduced, hopefully that means the story will get better as things progress
Cons: -didn’t love the writing, especially character voice and dialogue -not super interesting to me, only a few vague storyline pieces kept me engaged enough to not dnf
