I was in a mood to reread historial romances from my high school days and I remembered enjoying this one back in 1981 but ooh man I had to DNF for rape in the first couple chapters. What were you thinking 16 year old me?

These clipart-covered quirky 20-something heroine books are all the same. The voice is the same, the jokes are the same, even their clothes are the same. Sorry, not for me.
Also, the audiobook reader was execreble. Just read the books please. It's not a voice acting audition. If I can tell you're emoting, it's too much.

I’ve read two books by this author but this will be my last. I feel like she’s trying too hard to be funny, quirky, nerdy, etc. and it gets old really fast. Fortunately these are one-sitting romances or I’d never have made it through.
