I absolutely love the Dark Olympus series and I loved reading these shorts. I especially loved getting to know some secondary characters a bit better, and revisiting some of my favorites with bonus scenes. My only wish is that this was better edited. Some of the shorts/novellas in the second half of the collection had numerous grammatical errors and sometimes either extra words or rearranged words that normally I wouldn't be bothered by, but it was frequent enough that it was occasionally frustrating for me to read personally.
This was such a fun read! The plot was intriguing and both Modesty and Kenneth were fun and it was adorable to see their chemistry build. Bummed that this book in the series was fade to black. Really hope that we get a few more stories in the series since there are still two unwed MacGalloway siblings!
The first half of this book seriously dragged. I found Grace to be pretty insufferable and the way Frazier was obsessed with her or thought she was somehow perfect just because she was pretty and polished seemed weird. Like he had put her on some pedestal from afar. I probably would have loved the plot line more if I didn’t get so annoyed with the main characters. There were also some bits that read kind of homophobic. Which I guess is on par for the times.
I didn’t expect to live this story as much as I did but I actually really enjoyed reading as Andrew fell in love with Eugenia. And how he won her trust back after having broken it. The down side is I think I’ll hate Phillip whenever he gets a book.
I really enjoyed Gibb and Isabella’s story. Even the convenient parts of the plot didn’t annoy me like I thought they might. The sub plots, especially how they worked together on the tablets was so sweet, and especially endearing for a rake like Gibb.
This book was alright. Not the worst in the series. Thea and Willum are both likable, which was nice considering the first few MCs in the series weren’t. But their love story was hard to buy into especially when they spent so little time actually together. I’ll probably read the last book in the series when it comes out but the Grant/Ramsay world might have been better off had it been left alone a few spin off series ago unfortunately.
This was a very fun read. Was the plot line a little bit convenient? Sure! But it made for a fun story and I really enjoyed it. Harry and Charity were both wonderful MCs. Excited for the next book even though we haven’t see much of Gibb through the series yet.
This is the first book I’ve read from Amy Jarecki and I really enjoyed it! The whole cast of characters was wonderful, even the slightly annoying ones like Grace were done perfectly where they added some variety but weren’t overly annoying. Both of the MC, Martin and Julia were loveable and the pacing of the story was great. Excited to delve into the rest of the series!
This book had a great introduction on the history of Haiku and some of the most prominent haiku poets. However I think the book could have been better organized. Rather than have all four poet profiles in the introduction it would have made sense to include those profiles before the poets haiku poems. The collection also seemed very skewed in how many poems from each poet were included. Overall an interesting read!
This is more like a novella and it was all right. For a little over 100 pages there was very little about the stalker plot and the friends to lover shift happened early on in the book so everything after that started to drag after a bit. It was hard to get invested in either MC or their relationship together. I think the writing also wasn’t for me.
