The pitch feels like pretty standard fantasy fare, but there's a ton of tantalizing world building in this book, while still being populated with people with very real feelings. There's a lovely mix of mystery about the world and character vignettes over the years of time this book covers. So pleased to have found a new author to dig deep into.

Beautifully illustrated, and with a more folkloric feel than any of Miyazaki's other work.

Really well written, and a very different kind of horror story (but definitely horrific). The characters are well realized and three dimensional. Something about the scenario of everyone who works at the post office in a small town saddling up on their shitkicker motorcycles to go to a guys house to see his dog get over a high fence stuck with me.

Simply delightful. As goofy as it is epic. Boulet's illustrations are just so expressive and charming, and Zach Weinersmith's writing begs to be read aloud; it's just a perfect mix of goofy and epic. Can't wait to read to nephews.
