♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Im late to the party on reading this book but wow- am I glad I finally did. I flew through this book because I couldn’t put it down!

This is the story of 3 best friends in high school. One ends up missing, the other becomes a cop, and the third spends time in prison.
Geo had the life she dreamed of. Youngest VP of a pharmaceutical company, driving a fancy car, and engaged to a rich man. But her life turned upside down after she is arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison for her best friends murder.
When she is about to be released, more bodies start turning up. Is she involved? How?
This story has some dark and sinister points. But it is full of likeable characters and friendships.

Vanessa was only 15 years old when she had sex with her (much older) English teacher while at boarding school. 17 years later, the #metoo movement is beginning and other previous students have come forward. However, Vanessa doesn’t consider herself a victim. Not truly understanding grooming and manipulation, she thinks she of what happened to her a rare love story.
This harrowing story demonstrates how sexual abuse affects people in different ways. While this book didn’t end the way I expected, I appreciated seeing things from new lenses and characters staying true to themselves.
Warnings: rape, sexual abuse, manipulation

I’m really not on brand by reading another romance novel. BUT 1. I love adding books on to my @bookofthemonth 2. Y’all raved about this book (and this author in general).

Maybe it’s just a flaw of mine, but I always struggle to get into books if the first chapter isn’t about a murder or abduction. This book started with Cassie, an esteemed firefighter, about to earn an award. When the night goes downhill, she gets fired from her job, and is seemingly available to move back home and take care of her ill mother. While Cassie has always proven herself to be stronger, faster, harder than her colleagues and peers, something happens at the new firehouse that shifts her whole world and outlook on life and love.

Even though the beginning was slow for me, by the time I was half way, I couldn’t believe I had read so much. I came to love Cassie and the Rookie as well as *some* of the supporting cast. The friendship her mom had with Josie was so sweet. The overarching theme of this book was forgiveness and I think I even learned a lot about the subject.
However, some of this book made me cringe. It just wasn’t believable. •
I will also now fall asleep thinking about the steps to make chocolate chip cookies
