I loved this book! It’s the type of fantasy that really draws you in and makes you forget about the real world. I loved the world and the magic system and of course the dragons!! It did read very YA and tropey most of the time and a lot of it was quite predictable but it was just so fun that I can look past that. The romance was so fun to read as well even if it wasn’t a true enemies to lovers and again very predictable. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out tho I hope the writing gets a bit better and less YA in the second book.

I really like the idea of this book and the Irish mythology it is based on is very interesting but I found it to be very slow up until the end. I liked that we got to see four different POVs but I found it hard to really care much about characters other than the main four. Like the missing people I feel we aren’t given enough background on to care as much about them and I wish the reveal about it came earlier. I also found the romantic side of these somewhat frustrating because it was basically instant love without anything actually happening. People are in live with each other but no one will tell each other. Hopefully the next book in the series is a bit more exciting because I think this story still has a lot of potential.

I read this because of so many recommendations on booktok and I’m glad I did! I love a fantasy world like this that is full of lore and that really draws you in. While most of the twists to the story were easy to predict it was still very fun to read especially with how action packed the story was with the competition the main characters are in. I’m excited to see where the next book goes!
