yes if you want a lighthearted monster romcom
yes if you want to shut your brain off for a lil
yes if you want NO SMUT whatsoever even tho it's alluded to a couple times and could make it in there and be REAL GOOD
yes if you can get past terrible horrible editing- think spelling errors, incorrect word choices, repetitive phrasing, repetitive conversations, repetitive references, etc
yes if you love stubborn MCs
yes if you would prefer to relate to the FMCs BFF
yes if you want fun

no if you want a good compelling read*

*just bc something isn't GOOD doesn't mean i didn't like it

-it is my personal belief that all IVY THOLEN books should be turned into movies. they would amass a cult following IMMEDIATELY. i love that each book has things to reference to another
-the first part of this book is incredible. watching dusty's quick descent into madness was so good, and the way her part ended was very clever and tbh i haven't seen it done before ever
-part 2 with violet was sort of a miss. i mean, overall i enjoyed it but there were a few things that felt a little off for me; mainly how ridiculous all of violet's friends were acting when they finally found out the truth about her past....like you're seriously going to make it about YOU??
-enjoyed violet having "james" with her, i love a coping mechanism
-the kills were brutal and fun
-the tech aspect threw me a little bit but i'm not a tech-y person at all so that's probs a me problem
-the ENDING?! i audibly gasped so loud ask my bf lmao
-is it *her*?? is it ai?? is it a personal psychotic break?? we better get a 3rd book to find out!
-my only regret is that i read the first book two years ago, and some details were forgotten, so when they referenced or flashed back, i was lost

-tw animal violence
-sapphic southern gothic horror romance. “cottagecore horror” for some of you
-absolutely saw the twists coming
-closed door sex scenes still had me going lmaoooo
-such pretentious writing. listen. i love a good use of some big ol college words, but these felt forced and overwritten. what comes to mind is that part of Say Anything’s Admit It! - “Forever competing for that one moment of self-aggrandizing glory” lmao
-it was a novella, but it felt like it took years to get to the horror part
-i did enjoy them falling? for each other. a sapphic romance tends to lean more emotional and sweet
-the horror part was GOOD. i loved it.
-the villain monolguing seems to be a gripe for a lot of people, but i actually enjoyed it
-the only feminist message here was, “women can be serial killers too” which ok yeah sure

it's a short, quick read so idk maybe read it yourself bc maybe the vibes were just off for me. stunning cover art tho 🤗
