I never made it through In Search of Lost Time. Why bother when the only reason I was reading it was because I really wanted to read this?

So of course this was good being Orwell and all.
...But I was just the slightest bit disappointed. I think it's a failure to appreciate this narrative non-fiction style in the context of the age in which it was written. Reminds me a bit of how I felt after I read Capote's In Cold Blood.

It took me long enough but it was an enjoyable journey. Completely authentic and I unexpectedly welled up on the last page. Did he deserve to be on the cover of Time magazine for it? Well I want to say no, but the truth is I cannot think of any contemporary novel-length fiction I have liked better lately. Then again I haven't read very much contemporary novel-length fiction this year...

Back when I was only on page 89 I exhorted my female friends to buy a copy. Why? It will free you from ever having to wax your nether regions/make you feel vindicated you never waxed your nether regions, make you realize you are a feminist regardless of your color, creed, race, or religion, it has the most succinct argument against the burka I have ever read, and, most of all, it will make you LAUGH. Now that I've finished I feel just as enthusiastic, if a little ashamed of abandoning my feminist identity. Awesome, serious, and hilarious read, all at the same time.
