What is this? My newest obsession, thatβs what.
This book was amazing in so many ways. People compared this to The Cruel Prince and yes, the enemies to lovers vibes were 100% there. They quite literally hate each other for most of the book and for good reasons.
The FMC was such a complex character with so much depth, I loved her and I loved her story, every single part. Her internal struggles felt so real and made sense to each part of the story.
The MMC is filled with so many secrets, it was insane. The plot twists had me gasping and having to put down the book multiple times.
The world building is a bit slow at first, but understandable as this is book 1 and there is A LOT to this world the author has created. It took all the time it needed to and deserved to.
One of my fave characters was actually a side character. Taj, one of Susenyosβs companions. I am obsessed with him and his good hearted, yet protective nature and I hope we get more of his story too in the future. I have a feeling we will get many new stories in the future because there is so much yet to unravel just from this book.
And that last chapter? And now I have to wait for book 2? π
So yeah, expect to hear me talking about this book a lot for the foreseeable future! β€οΈ

This book was EVERYTHING!
The romance between Slade and Auren does get put aside for this one but it was necessary.
Watching Aurenβs growth through every single book to see her get to the point she is now at, where she is finally truly finding herself and her own strength is empowering and inspiring. I love everything about her and her story.
Watching Slade become the villain for Auren, like he always swore he would? 10/10, recommend. I loved him even more in this book and was so happy to see him avenge what happened to Auren.
Malina? I get it now, and I do in fact like her, she has changed so much throughout these books and has been on her own self discovery journey and for Dommick to be the one who helped her on it, was just amazing. And his mouth? Filthy, and I love that for her. β€οΈ
Os and Rissa? I am obsessed with their story as they are the definition of βwhen opposites attractβ and I cannot wait to see their story bloom.
The storyline in this one was immaculate, we are really getting to see the fae come out to play now and it is terrifying and thrilling. And getting to see Annwynn through Aurenβs eyes FINALLY literally made me tear up, it was a long time coming. β€οΈ
So yeah, overall this book was absolutely amazing in every way and so beautifully written. Now I await the final book in the series, Goldfinch. I am excited for it but also sad that it is about to be over. But all good things must come to an end. π₯Ή

I loved DR with my entire soul, it is still a fave of mine, but this was mid compared to that imo.
And not because of the lack of romance. I read books where nothing romantic happens until book 3 lol. So I can handle that. It was the repetition of some of the conversations. It was the fact that Dacre never really felt like a villain to me. It was the fact that when Iris and Roman did have chapters together there was a lack of any real chemistry.
The writing is still on point though, hence why this wasnβt a 1 star for me. But I did almost DNF, a part of me wishes I did. I will never re read this one. In my mind Divine Rivals was a standalone and they lived happily ever after. π
Another reason why this was mid to me. I just finished it like 3 minutes ago and I am having such a hard time even remembering the majority of the book. π so yeah, mid.

Think Twilight, but with fallen angels. π€
This was a comfort read for me years ago, I read it during a dark time in my life and it kept my mind off of that situation and on this story. So while the story is not a literary masterpiece, it holds a special place in my heart and forever will. The series also gets a lot better imo. β€οΈ

And Iβm destroyed again. Man, therapy is about to be expensiveeeee just because of this new series. π
This might be set in the same world as Zodiac Academy, but it is still completely. New characters, new world, new story, new adventures. I gobbled up this entire book, it was so good. I did have an issue at one point but it inevitably ended up making sense in true Twisted Sisters fashion so I shouldnβt have even questioned it. The audacity of me. π
Some main (spoiler-free) points:
π₯Dark fantasy
π₯I sense a bully romance on the horizon π€
π₯Dual pov
π₯1st person pov
π₯fae/shifters/vampires
π₯unique magic
π₯lvl πΆοΈπΆοΈ spice
π₯found family trope
π₯kingdoms at war
π₯magic academy
This book comes out on September 24 and you are not going to want to miss this one! So do yourself a favor and get your preorders in or set your alarms and get it asap!
βοΈ A huge thank you to Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti and team for an ARC copy of Never Keep. The way I screamed when this arrived in the mail and the way I will not stop screaming for book 2. Thank you so much for the emotional trauma, I will always come back for seconds! πβ€οΈ
Happy reading babes π«Άπ»

I am obsessing over the story building in this one. We learned so much more regarding the plot and the βregressionsβ. The art is also stunning. π

4.25/5β - This is my 3rd favorite from The Chestnut Springs series. I loved this story so much, Bailey deserves the entire world and the way I too would have been Willa for this girl and defended her at coffee shops. Ugh I love her sm. And Beau, omg, that man has been through it. But he pushes through regardless without feeling much. Until Bailey, I love them so much, their chemistry, the slow burn, the revelations near the end. This couple is everything, and I am going to miss reading about them.
The only reason I can not give it a full 5 stars, is because Beau is a war hero, and went through a very traumatic experience and very obviously suffers from PTSD. But yet he would not seek therapy and made a few jokes regarding therapy that I found off-putting personally. But other than that, this story is fantastic!
Main points:
βsmall town romance
βdual pov / first person
βfake engagement
βage gap
βwar hero
βtown outcast
βtouch her & be threatened aggressively (lol)
β"yes, sir"
If you are a fan of small town romances, do yourself and favor and pick up this series. Every book is about a new couple but all of the old couples make appearances in newer books and they are all adorable and angsty and spicy asf.
Happy reading babes!

It is cute, but it didnβt hold my attention. I kept wishing it was over already and it felt like every other romance Iβve read recently. I may continue it still, I may not. Idk yet.

The way I sob every single time I read this book. π
This one gets emotional, and dangerous. And i love how Rose is growing and becoming more confident in herself.
I adore every character in this book, even Mia. π
But that ending? Iβm over it πππ
I love this series, especially during spooky months, perfect time to read this. β€οΈ
